I can’t remember a time when the art of origami didn’t intrigue, inspire, or excite me in some way. Even as a little kid, I’ve always been super fascinated with the endless possibilities you can achieve with just a simple piece of paper and the imagination. I guess this is also a good time to admit that I have absolutely zero skills in the origami department, say for the occasional paper airplane that you might find littered in our office from time to time. With that said, it’s never stopped me from appreciating origami, and the inspiring artists who’ve influenced the origami industry.
Cue Sipho Mabona, of Mabona Origami… his works and inspiring achievements have awarded him international recognition, and when you see his models, you can see why. He was even an invited guest of the Japan Origami Academic Society (JOAS) convention in 2008, and later, one of his models were featured on the cover page of the JOAS convention book.
What really caught my attention though, was this short film / corporate movie that he helped produce for Asics / Onitsuka. Definitely impressive, to say the least.
