IDM / Hip-Hop / Experimental scene in Portland

May 18th, 2007 by colorcubic

Colorcubic, C3 Audio (Colorcubic’s own record label), and PRA (Portland Radio Authority) are working together to promote the local IDM/Hip-Hop/Experimental scene through a fusion of design and monthly performances at various venues. In addition to performances, there are a few IDM artists worth mentioning:

White Car: Nostalgic and attractive IDM laced with melancholic melodies and beats; sounds like a 1940’s jazz drummer teamed with a classical composer in a duel against an AI armed with bazookas.

Gejius: A fusion of retro and post-modern melodies with booty-shakin’, back-droppin’ beats. Reminiscent of an industrial machine factory employed by 1980’s blue-collared robots.

Gouseion: One word: Drunk. Addictive, “low-fi meets high-end” stuttered beats encased in a 40oz of Old Gold wrapped with a brown bag of melodic synths. Bottoms up!

UPCOMING EVENTS

Tomorrow (May 19th, 2007), DJ Ghostdad, Masmöd, Gejius and Bumtech will be performing at the WayPost. The show starts at 8 PM and costs nil, 21+. The Waypost is located on 3120 N Williams Ave, Portland, OR.

Site Update

May 18th, 2007 by colorcubic

The site is being currently updated with our latest projects which include new clients such as Portland Monthly Magazine, Flowerbud.com, Hive Apparel, Percy Power, and TAC Networks. We’ll be archiving some of the older work to make room for the additions. An “Archive” button will be added for access to those older projects.

We will also be adding Sound Design projects to our Work section. As you may or may not know, Michael John (one of the principals of Colorcubic) is an electronic IDM producer/sound designer/engineer and also performs under the moniker masmöd. Colorcubic is expanding masmödmedia.com to include new tracks from his soon-to-be-released album, Axiom, and to include tons of sweet stuff we have to keep mum. (^.^) Keep checking back often or subscribe to our RSS Feed so you’ll never miss a new posting!
