Coffee, Breakfast, and Autechre
Mornings at the Colorcubicâ„¢ office tend to involve Gusto Crema blend coffee from Cafe Umbria, a bagel with cream cheese and tomato, and Autechre…. an interesting blend of circuit bending, good production, and eclectic beats. I’ve noticed Autechre tends to be hit or miss with some people. For me Autechre has always been an inspiration for the never ending exploration of sound design. Albeit there’s a time and a place for Autechre, but one of my favorite albums of theirs would have to be “EP7″ hands down. To this day I’ve never heard them try to reproduce that sound. Whatever the reason, it’s a brilliant album.
The packaging is pretty dope as well. Kind of an unconventional approach to fractal design. I think if you’re new to Autechre, or you’re battling with the “love / hate” relationship that tends to follow Autechre, I would highly suggest picking up this album. It’s probably one of their most melodic albums I’ve ever heard. My all time favorite track from this album would have to be track 11 titled: “Pir.”
Anyway, just thought I would share this Autechre experience. Feel free to give it a listen below.
Enjoy
