Experimental Motion Reel

August 16th, 2008 by colorcubic

We finally found some time to wrap an experimental motion reel we’ve been working on for several months now. With all of our projects underway, it’s hard to find time to really give enough attention to detail. Fortunately this clip is only 19 seconds long, but the downside is that it took almost a month to create until we were really happy with the results. We took a more traditional approach when producing this by editing and manipulating each individual frame (much like stop motion animation). A lot of the cloud scenes are photographs, manipulated in photoshop, and then spliced into one seamless motion. It was pretty fun to work on, and we’ll be producing more as time permits.

You can view the reel: here.

Enjoy :P

BANG-ON

June 12th, 2008 by colorcubic

This was a pretty fun piece to work on. Bang-On (a pop culture, lifestyle t-shirt company, originating from Vancouver B.C., Canada) commissioned us to design a postcard for their grand opening in Frankston, Australia. Looks like we’ll be handling all of Bang-On’s Frankston collateral print projects as well. The grand opening is supposed to be amazing. Wish we could be there to experience the swag. They did promise to take loads of pictures, so we’ll try to snag some and post them here.

Enjoy :D

Design for baby apparel

April 16th, 2008 by colorcubic

These days, we’re busy working on a lot of baby-related design projects and we just completed splash page designs for Blank Apparel Baby and RockMyBaby, two Australian-based baby apparel sites being launched in the next couple months. We were given carte blanche to design the brands and here are the results:

RMB Splash
RockMyBaby is a rock-centric baby apparel site. We designed a “rock” wordmark with a cute skull being swaddled by the R’s decender as well as a cool VIP pass for the splash page.

A soft and fun approach was taken when designing the Blank Apparel Baby logo, integrating a rainbow, cloud, and subtle smiley face. I don’t know about you, but this whole scene makes us feel like warm laundry and fabric softener. :)

Rogue Samurai Farm brand identity v 2.0

Rogue Samurai Farm™ v 2.0

Hello everyone, sorry for not writing on here for a while. We’re really under the gun to get a lot finished in a short amount of time, all while keeping up on here. So anyway, if you remember several posts back, we featured some brand identity work that was currently in the works for some clients of ours. One piece in particular was for “Rogue Samurai Farm™.” Anyway, we all decided that Rogue Samurai Farm needed a change in the identity direction we were moving in. We were thinking of something along the lines of minimal meets stencil, or something that could potentially be used as a stencil. So far everyone seems to be really happy about the outcome, and so we’re now moving in the direction of implementing this design into some mock-up collateral pieces to promote RSF. Let us know what you think… or not.

Enjoy :D

Xmas with the Walcotts

We thought someone might find this piece from our archives amusing, so we decided to share this with whomever is interested. One of our good friends commissioned us to create one of their infamous holiday greeting cards last Christmas for their insanely long list of family and friends. We decided to illustrate them, and put them in a conventional busy mall setting with a line of people waiting to see Santa. If you notice, everyone has got their ideal gift already picked out in their minds, and they’re just waiting to spill the beans. I can’t tell you how long this took, but it was quite a while. Every element was intricately illustrated, from the mall backdrop and Christmas tree, to the family and Santa in the foreground. Although it was very detail oriented, it was extremely fun to work on. We’re looking forward to taking it on next year as well.

Hope you enjoy.

Peace, ;)

captain we are making progress

March 7th, 2008 by colorcubic

So we just found out this morning that version 2.0 of “the Combi™” was approved. We’re very excited about it, and we’re even more excited to see it put to work.

Check it out if you haven’t seen it yet. We posted a preview of the Combi v 2.0 in yesterdays post.

Also, we’d like to apologize for not picking up on this sooner, but if you’ve tried to leave a comment on our blog, you’ve probably had very little success. Unfortunately we’ve neglected our current site a little, say for minor updates, and keeping up on our blog due to redesigning colorcubic.com, and our current projects underway.
Anyway, we’ve resolved the error, thanks to one of our mates (Gejius) at nuevaforma.com for pointing that out. So you can now, (once again) leave comments… or not. ;)

Peace,

the Combi v 2.0
Alright, so this is version 2.0 of “the Combi”, a licensed product company in Australia. So far this is the direction we’re moving in. Now we’re just waiting to hear whether or not it’s been approved.
