Colorcubic® was commissioned by the City of Beaverton, Oregon to create a fully custom interactive experience for the city’s annual State of the City event. With a two-month turnaround, the scope included the design and development of an original video game titled “Mayor’s Quest 2,” five custom mini arcade cabinets constructed from e-flute cardboard, and a series of promotional illustrated prints tied to the game’s visual identity. The project required Colorcubic® to blend entertainment, civic education, and event-ready physical fabrication into a single cohesive deliverable, all under a tight production timeline.

The game itself featured Billy the Beaver, the city’s beloved mascot, as the playable character. Players guided Billy through a series of errands on behalf of the City Mayor, with each task designed to highlight key accomplishments achieved by the city administration under the Mayor’s leadership. The gameplay served a dual purpose: it kept attendees entertained and engaged while organically communicating the administration’s milestones and community investments in a way that was accessible and memorable. The accompanying illustrated prints extended the game’s artwork into standalone promotional pieces that reinforced the event’s branding.

To maximize accessibility at the event, Colorcubic® produced five custom mini arcade cabinets, each built from e-flute cardboard, ensuring they were lightweight, portable, and visually striking. The cabinets were stationed throughout the venue so that multiple attendees could play simultaneously, reducing wait times and creating natural gathering points across the event space. The result was an interactive civic engagement experience that turned a traditional municipal presentation into something genuinely fun, giving residents a hands-on way to connect with the work their city government had been doing on their behalf.
