Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

What can we say about Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, that hasn’t already been said? Well, consider this an addition to the national & international praise this movie is so rightly receiving.

Let’s start with the fact that it’s truly a masterpiece in every facet of its genre; directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson, based on the screenplay by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, inspired by the works of Brian Michael Bendis (co-creator of Miles Morales) and with animation contributions by over 1,000 artists, not only is the animation incredible, but the voice acting, the plot, the encouraging messages of self-confidence & self-love, and of course, the amazing soundtrack (our favorites being the Metro Boomin & Coi Leray collab, ‘Self Love’, as well as the Metro Boomin & James Blake collab, ‘Hummingbird’, (preview above ^)), all of which make this new Spider-Man experience a truly sought after & memorable one. It’s not only a child-friendly movie, but it’s a favorite among adults as well, which is made clear by its impressive $607.3 Million haul so far, with both domestic & international audiences.

With movies like this, pacing is always a tricky factor to consider. Too short of a movie, and you leave audiences with a lot of unanswered questions. Too long of a movie, and you start to lose the attention of the audience. This movie came in with that Goldilocks timing, even considering the fact that it boasts an impressive 2 hour & 20 minute run time. But it doesn’t feel that long when you’re watching it, because it’s so captivating the entire time, it really does keep you focused on the story. You don’t want to miss anything.

This movie leverages the flexibility of some real cutting-edge animation, and pairs it with a memorable soundtrack that leaves you lingering to pay respects when the credits roll.

We won’t give any spoilers away (for those who still haven’t seen it), but let’s just say, if you haven’t seen it yet, we highly recommend it. This is one of our favorite movies so far, this year, and we’re really looking forward to more from the amazing talent behind this new Spider-Man property.
